D is for Diva. And the D belongs to that American icon Diana Ross, who brings her greatest hits tour, “More Today Than Yesterday,” to Tilles Center, Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m. It is her only area appearance.

It will be a night to remember for fans of The Supremes and the Motown Sound that Ross helped shape before leaving the group for her solo career.

During the 1970s and through the mid-1980s, Ross was among the most successful female artists of the day, crossing over into film, television and Broadway. She received a Best Actress Academy Award nomination for her 1972 portrayal of Billie Holiday in “Lady Sings The Blues,” for which she won a Golden Globe award. Among her many accolades, she has garnered twelve Grammy Award nominations, and won a Tony Award for her one-woman show, “An Evening with Diana Ross,” in 1977. In December 2007, she received a John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Honors Award.

Ross certainly has had a prolific recording career. Since those early days with The Supremes and as a solo artist, Ross has released 67 albums and sold more than 100 million records.
