Man charged with stealing from Bellmore mosque

A Queens man was arrested Wednesday at 11:50 p.m. and charged with stealing money from a donation box at the Jaame Mafjid Mosque on Newbridge Road in North Bellmore. Nassau County Police arrested Ahmad Saeed, 48, after the suspect was caught on the mosque’s surveillance video.

Police say the video shows Saeed attempting to use a wire to pull cash out of the donation box. An employee watching the surveillance cameras responded to the scene to stop Saeed. Surveillance footage also allegedly shows the suspect stealing money in the same manner on Wednesday, March 21.

Saeed was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree and possession of burglary tools.
