Mepham celebrates the arts

After a multi-day showcase of students’ talents, Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District officials said it was clear that the arts are alive at Mepham High School.

The school hosted its annual spring arts showcase at the beginning of June, including two concerts on June 3 and June 5 and a fine arts display over several days.

During the concerts, several student musical groups displayed their talents. Audiences heard performances by the repertory band, mixed chorus, saxophone quartet, Mepham jazz ensemble, chamber orchestra, Mepham orchestra, symphonic band, concert choir and wind ensemble, in addition to assorted student arrangements of various artists.

The arts showcase serves as an outlet for students to share their best work from the past year with their peers, family members and friends. The exhibit featured hundreds of works of art.

Students in various art classes and levels –– including Advanced Placement art, advertising and design, drawing and painting, photography, sculpture and studio in art –– contributed to the show. Their work covered a range of mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and graphic design.
