The next meeting of the Merrick Gables Association will be held at the Merrick Public Library on Tuesday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m., and special districts will be the main focus of this session.
Representatives of Residents for Efficient Special Districts, a grassroots group, will be on hand to answer questions. Nassau has more than 200 special districts, from water to sanitation. The districts, often inefficiently or poorly managed, contribute a great deal to the high property-tax burden that Nassau residents must bear; special districts need greater transparency and accountability, according to to RESD.
Updates on the Vine Bar and on cellular antennas in the area will also be provided.
