Merrick Jewish Centre becomes Israel for a day

Posted

Israel recently celebrated its 64th birthday, and to mark the occasion, the Merrick Jewish Centre was transformed into the country itself.

Yom Ha’atzmaut, also known as Israel Independence Day, celebrates Israel’s declaration as its own state, which occurred on May 15, 1948.

Members of the Merrick Jewish Centre got to experience Israel firsthand as the house of worship immersed itself in Israeli food, music, art and history. In addition to the Merrick Jewish Centre, the Bellmore Jewish Center, Temple Beth Am, Congregation Ohav Sholom, Temple Israel of South Merrick, Young Israel of Merrick and Young Israel of North Bellmore sponsored the event.
