Merrick senior writers to present their work June 8

Members of the Merrick Senior Center's Creative Writing Workshop will offer samples of their work Wednesday, June 8, at 1 p.m. at the Merrick Theater and Center for the Arts. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served after the presentation.

The Creative Writing Workshop is a 16-week program sponsored by Poets & Writers, Inc. and the Town of Hempstead Department of Senior Enrichment. The writing includes prose, poetry and vignettes or mini-plays, the latter especially appropriate for the stage. Tony Georgan and Joe Mauro of the Merrick Theater invite the writers each year to share their efforts with the community. Much of the writing produced in the workshop appears in the fall in a booklet entitled "Musings of Maturity." The program is led by Paula Rodenas, of Merrick.
