North Bellmore 8U team dominates

An 8U softball team from North Bellmore had a dominant run throughout Long Island this past summer and fall, going 34-1 across five tournaments, winning four of them. Three of the tournaments they won took place in East Meadow.

The girls also finished first in a tournament in Suffolk, and third in a Plainview tournament.

“This is a very special group of girls, more like a family than a team,” said coach Mike Damato. “They won’t let another team member fail, always picking up a girl who made a mistake.”

The tightly knit group was known for blasting music before and after games, singing, and roaring loud chants during games. “We’re unorthodox, let’s put it that way,” said Damato. “They show all other teams that softball is a game and it’s supposed to be fun.”

The team includes Sera Muoio, Daniella Damato, Sofia Laspina, Toni Satriana, Casey Mcgovern, Kristina Trupo, Giselle Delutri, Angalina Hassell, Allie Harrington, Sophie Loviglio, Anna Kudel, Kaitlyn Buckheit, Ally Rosenthal, Lily Yapez and Sarah Kennedy.
