Local streets were full of young athletes, coaches and parents as they joined together to kick off the North Bellmore-North Merrick Little League’s 2012 season last Saturday.
More than 1,500 children, ranging in age from 7 to 16, take part in the league. On Saturday, hundreds of Little Leaguers donned their uniforms and marched with their teams. The festivities began on Roger Road, between Jerusalem Avenue and Saw Mill Road School, and continued through North Bellmore and North Merrick, before concluding at the Gunther Elementary School field.
