Pennies for Patients

Posted

In the winter of 2006, former Kennedy High School health teacher Christina Henry took it upon herself to incorporate the "Pennies for Patients" fundraiser in her health classes. She alerted the students about the fights against leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma. After seeing their enthusiasm to come to the aid of children, Henry enlisted other teachers to join in the effort, raising $2,000 in three weeks. This year's fundraiser at Kennedy High School proved to be as profitable as the past four years. The 33 classes that participated donated a total of $4,408.10 to help young children who are awaiting cures to their specific blood disorders.
