A police investigation into a threat made on social media against Mepham High School led to the arrest of a North Bellmore 17-year-old on Thursday.

According to Nassau County police, officers responded to the Camp Avenue high school at approximately 1 p.m. on Thursday to investigate the social media post that threatened violence.

Police’s investigation led them to arrest Jordan Rojas, of Newbridge Road, without incident.

Rojas was charged with making a terroristic threat, and he was scheduled to be arraigned in Hempstead First District Court on Friday.

Mepham Principal Eric Gomez said that he was alerted to the alleged threat at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, and immediately ordered a precautionary lockout that lasted less than 10 minutes.

“Along with police, we handled the situation quickly and appropriately,” Gomez said, in a message to parents. “Please rest assured that no students and staff were ever in harm’s way. As always, the safety and security of our staff and students is our number one priority. We are confident that this matter has been handled properly.”
