Police: North Bellmore man menaced delivery driver with handgun

Police arrested a North Bellmore man on Aug. 29 after he allegedly threatened a delivery driver in Bethpage with a handgun.

According to Nassau County police, a 23-year-old man was delivering food in the parking lot of the Bethpage Motel, when he was approached from by Ricky Casseus, 48, driving a Hyundai Elantra. Casseus pulled up alongside the delivery man’s vehicle and pointed a silver handgun at him, police said.

The victim feared for his safety and drove away, before notifying police. Officers tracked Casseus down based on information provided by the victim and arrested him without incident, according to police.

Casseus was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and one count each of third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing.

He was arraigned on Aug. 30 in Hempstead First District Court. Defense attorney information for Casseus was not available at press time.
