The beat goes on at the Madison Theatre when some chart-topping original rock ‘n rollers get together for an evening of memorable music. The Platters, the always-captivating Shirley Alston Reeves and The Shirelles, along with The Dubs, join forces with lively renditions of their top hits. This high-energy concert celebrates those heady days of doo-wop, rock ‘n roll and R&B during a musical trip down memory lane with those sounds that still resonate today. From the classic “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” to “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” and “Could This Be Magic,” it’s an evening of treasured tunes that will have everyone singing along.

Seasonal Delights

Winter Trek
Those die-hard outdoors folks among us can explore Muttontown Preserve during a guided winter trek of some of its 550 acres. The three-mile hike takes visitors along a variety of environments located on the preserve, exploring the various plants and animals found there. The tour includes visits to the wetlands, wooded trails, upland woods, conifer stands, and kettle ponds. It’s a tranquil look at the serene beauty of nature in winter. Look for cold weather birds and other creatures that reside in Nassau County’s largest nature preserve. And be sure to dress warmly!
Sunday, Feb. 8, 10 a.m.-noon. $5. Enrollment is limited and registration is required. Bill Paterson Nature Center, Muttontown Preserve, Muttontown La., East Norwich. (516) 571-8500.
