Reinhard recognizes MLK Day

Children in two classes created a collage to celebrate Dr. King’s life.

At the Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center in Bellmore, students in Christopher Merz’s first-grade class and Eloise Eisenhardt’s second-grade class collaborated to study Doreen Rappaport’s book “Martin’s Big Words” and discuss the importance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s teachings.
The students were asked to select and decorate words that they thought expressed King’s ideas and beliefs. Students shared their words with their schoolmates, and together the two classes created a collage to celebrate King’s life.
The lesson and project coincided with Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 19.
