Santa swings by the Bellmores

Posted

Jolly Ol’ St. Nick flew through the Bellmores atop a shiny Bellmore Fire Department engine last Friday, meeting and greeting children of all ages.

His visit, sponsored annually by the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores on the day after Thanksgiving, brought out hundreds of local children at four locations, including the CVS and Stop & Shop shopping centers in North Bellmore, as well as the Ace Hardware shopping center in Bellmore and the Bellmore Movies in Bellmore Village.

Thanks to Anne and Henry Stampfel, owners of the Bellmore Movies, the children were treated to a free showing of a family-friendly movie after Santa's visit.

The Chamber of Commerce will celebrate Hanukkah with its 14th annual menorah lighting on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. at Broadway and Bedford Avenue in Bellmore Village.

And the chamber will host its 14th annual Christmas tree lighting and holiday extravaganza on Friday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m., with traditional horse-and-buggy and trolley rides throughout the village, followed by the tree lighting at 7 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial at Bedford Avenue and Broadway.
