Saw Mill students mark Earth Week with a parade

Posted

At Saw Mill Elementary School, Earth Day lasted all week. Kindergartners, first- and second-graders took part in a recycled hat parade. Letters were sent home to parents letting them know about the events, so students could create their hats at home for the parade.

The Shared Decision Making Committee, made up of parents, educators, and administrators, joined with the Saw Mill Student Council, headed up by Assistant Principal Eileen Vota, to plan the parade.

Students in grades three to six weren't left out of the Earth Day celebrations. The older students created art for a recycled art show that was put on display. Parents got a chance to look at the recycled art last Wednesday afternoon, and fellow students snuck a peak the following day.
