Family Fun

Giggle, Giggle, Quack
Duck is on the loose, when Dallas Children’s Theatre brings madcap musical mutiny to Tilles Center on Sunday. All ages will enjoy this musical adventure based on Doreen Cronin’s barnyard series of books. Good old Farmer Brown has left his city-slicker brother in charge of his farm while he takes a much-needed vacation. He’s left detailed instructions on how to take care of the animals so that nothing will go wrong, including the important warning “Keep an eye on Duck. He’s trouble.” But when the instructions fall into the wrong hands (or wings!), mayhem ensues.
Sunday, March 27, 2 p.m. $20 and $12. Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, C.W. Post Campus, Rte. 25A, Brookville.

Musical Tribute

Honoring ‘Mr. Tuba’
The legacy of renowned tuba player Harvey Phillips is explored at a lecture-recital program with Hofstra University’s Tuba and Euphonium Instructor Michael Salzman. A former student of Phillips, who was known as a “Titan of Tuba,” Salzman gives his insights into the musician whom Salzman knew for 35 years. This free event includes works by Bach, Wilder, Persichetti, Sondheim, and the premiere of “Home Again” by Thomas Davis.
Sunday, March 27, 7:30 p.m. Hofstra University’s Helene Fortunoff Theater, Monroe Lecture Center, California Ave., South Campus, Hempstead. (516) 463-5490.
