For nearly two months, North Bellmore residents were without a grocery store. That changed when the Stop and Shop on Newbridge Road reopened after undergoing renovations.

The store, which has been closed since early July, now offers a wider variety of groceries with more options for customers, Gary Lewi, a spokesperson for Stop and Shop said. Lewi said that the store offers and expanded grocery aisle, dairy departments and bakery; it also has increased the amount of fresh produce available, especially in the salad and melon bar.

The new store also has the added benefit of more prepared food options, including fresh paninis and other new items. Other fresh options include a full service seafood department offering a wide variety of fresh seafood.

New technology has also made its way into the store. Stop and Shop now offers "Scan It," a handheld scanner that allows the customers the ability to scan and bag their own groceries as they shop. The device offers a running total and even offers special savings.

The new "super" store is open 6 a.m. until midnight Monday through Saturday and 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Sundays.
