Strong winds create power outages

Strong winds across Long Island have toppled power lines, leaving thousands without electricity.

A high wind warning is in effect for the area until 2 p.m., with winds northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts of up to 60 mph.

As of 4:55 p.m. on April 3, 3,423 households on Long Island and the Rockaways are without power.
