Mepham High School senior Josh Ferris placed in the “Tomorrow Project,” a joint effort by Intel, the Society for Science and the Public, and Arizona State University’s Center for Science and Imagination that explores possible futures through fact-based, science-based fiction. His science-fiction story was one of 33 published on the project’s website from hundreds of submissions from 15 countries and 36 states, said Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District officials. Ferris will attend the SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany in the hope of becoming a nanoscale engineer.
