Rich Ohrnberger makes 'Monday Night Football' appearance

East Meadow native Rich Ohrnberger, an offensive lineman for the San Diego Chargers, was in the spotlight last Monday night after entering the season opener against the Arizona Cardinals in the first half when starting center Nick Hartwick went down with an ankle injury. Though the Chargers lost, 18-17, Ohrnberger played a role in two touchdown drives in the second half. The former East Meadow High School and Penn State University standout began his sixth NFL season. more

A first-quarter injury to the San Diego Chargers’ starting center during their Wild Card playoff game against the host Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 5 forced the team to abruptly call on their backup. With five minutes remaining in the quarter, in stepped Rich Ohrnberger, a five-year NFL veteran, a three-year starter at Penn State University, and a 2004 East Meadow High School graduate. more
