A capacity crowd packed Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow on June 29 to watch the New York Islanders’ annual scrimmage game, which served as the highlight of last week’s prospect mini-camp.
The prospect pool split into three teams, facing off in a trio of four-on-four contests lasting 20 minutes each. The extra ice and young legs made for a fast-paced night of hockey with Team Blue & White winning the round-robin tourney going 2-0.
After the game, the prospects showcased their skills for the fans, with a shootout, hardest shot and team breakaway competitions. The night ended with an autograph session that included 2016 first-round draft pick Kieffer Bellows, and former first-rounders Michael Dal Colle, Joshua Ho-Sang, Mathew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier.
