Doesn’t want Walgreens in Lynbrook
To the Editor:
Re: “Walgreens coming to Lynbrook?” in last week’s Herald: I am very opposed to the idea of this drugstore chain coming to Lynbrook.
I have been a resident since 1964, and I’ve seen changes — but this would not be a good idea. We don’t need a big corporation coming here. Lynbrook already has several large chain drugstores within one mile of this location, and the small Mom & Pop-type of drugstores in the area would not be able to survive with a Walgreens here.
This intersection is already a dangerous one. There is also an elementary school near by, and the increase in traffic would make it more dangerous to the children.
This area is becoming more developed — but this is not progress, not in the best interest of the people, and could be potentially dangerous to young children — and it’s against the wishes of everyone I have spoken with about this. Large companies shouldn’t be telling our village what is best for its people.
