Student athletes to play college sports

Six from EMHS recognized for athletics

Six East Meadow student athletes who will be playing college sports in the fall were recognized at a letter of intent signing ceremony inside of their high school on June 1.

Joseph Barbato, Toula DeLeon, Michael Grady, Brian Kavanagh, Nicole Keicher and Ashley Smith will all be taking their athletic prowess to the next level come September.

Barbato will play lacrosse at Saint Leo University in Florida. DeLeon will join thesoccer team at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. Grady will run track at Adelphi, Kavanagh will take his baseball talents to LIU Post, Keicher will play soccer at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, and Ashley Smith, a softball player, will play at Mercy College.

The student athletes were surrounded by their coaches and family members for the special day, as well as other faculty from East Meadow High School.
