A ‘Party in Pink’ at North Shore Fitness

East Meadow gym hosts charity Zumbathon for breast cancer research

Intense exercise is usually not this fun.

Zumba enthusiasts, beginners and experts, worked up a sweat together on Oct. 24 at a special Zumbathon “Party in Pink” hosted at North Shore Fitness in East Meadow. Music blared in the exercise studio as an energized group danced and stepped their way through a three-hour session of Zumba.

The goal of the event was to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer awareness and research.

North Shore Fitness owners Larry Samuels and Frankie Camarano and Zumba instructor Linda DeMasi spearheaded the program.

Zumba has become a popular choice for exercisers, as it incorporates dance and rhythmic music into a challenging, yet fun workout.

“It’s like exercise in disguise,” DeMasi said.

Participants enjoyed a catered lunch and were eligible for raffles.
