The American Chamber Ensemble joins in Hofstra University's 75th anniversary celebration, with a special concert, Sunday, Oct. 17, at 3 p.m., at Hofstra University's Monroe Lecture Center Theater. The ensemble, co-directed by Naomi Drucker and Blanche Abram, will perform "Woman in Darkness" composed by Hofstra’s Herbert Deutsch to text by Virginia Terris. This work features acclaimed soprano Tammy Hensrud, Naomi Drucker, on clarinet, and Blanche Abram, on piano and synthesizer. All are Hofstra music faculty members. Also on the program is the exciting David Diamond Quintet for flute, piano and string trio, featuring the renowned flutist Pat Spencer, who is also a Hofstra faculty member. In addition, the program includes the Menotti Trio for clarinet, violin and piano and the Dumky Trio by Dvorak, with pianist Marilyn Lehman, violinist Eriko Sato, Chris Finckel, on cello, and Lois Martin, viola.
