Mild weather expected for Thursday and through end of weekend

East Meadow residents braced for another storm as the National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Nassau County and other areas of the New York metropolitan area on Monday.

According to the service's advisory, between three and six inches of rain were expected to drop by Wednesday morning.

Nassau was last hit hard on the weekend of March 13 and March 14, when a nor'easter tore through the area with near hurricane-force winds that led to fallen trees and power lines. This time, winds were expected to stay under 20 miles per hour.

The weather was expected to make a major turnaround at the end of the week. Beginning on Thursday, the National Weather Service predicts abundant sunshine with highs in the 60s and into the 70s.
