Auto accident shuts down Carmen Avenue

Driver was sent to NUMC in serious condition

The East Meadow Fire Department and Nassau County Police responded to a serious automobile accident on Carmen Avenue near Melody Lane in Salisbury this morning.

Emergency personnel worked diligently for 15 minutes to extricate a man from his vehicle using the “Jaws of Life” after the lone driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. The front of the man’s car was demolished on impact and his airbags were deployed.

The man was transported by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition.

Carmen Avenue was closed between Melody Lane and Murray Drive for nearly two hours while the victim was removed from his vehicle and debris was cleared from the roadway.
