The Little League Pledge is as follows: “I trust in God, I love my country and I will reports its law. I will play fair and strive to win, but win or lose I will always do my best.”
Spring was in the air for the Central Nassau Athletic Association annual little league parade and opening day ceremony on April 15. Ballplayers all dressed up, along with their parents and community members marched down Carman Avenue before a ceremony was held at the field to mark opening day of the baseball and softball season.
“Central Nassau Little League is possible because of the contributions you make for your children,” little league President Joe Aloi said. “Your support of our league does not go unnoticed.
“Through sports, character and a sense of community is built. Our children are our future and with teamwork success happens.”
CNAA takes in kids from ages 4 to 14 from East Meadow, Salisbury and Westbury. Dozens are registered to play on a Rebels squad with children in their age groups this spring.
Local officials were also present for the season kick off. Gift cards to Dick’s Sporting Goods were raffled off, and kids were selected to throw the first balls of the season.
