A babysitter from Oceanside was arrested on March 3 for stealing nearly $10,000 in items from an East Rockaway family, and selling some of those items in East Meadow, Baldwin and Elmont, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Police said that Mirjana Cindric, 30, of Oceanside, stole jewelry, silver and cash from an East Rockaway family that hired her between Nov. 28, 2011, and Feb. 13. She then sold some of those items at Enterprise Pawnbrokers in Elmont, A&A Goldbuyer in East Meadow and IC Gold/OK Pawn Brokers in Baldwin, police said.

When Cindric was arrested, detectives said, she was found with two stolen credit cards and an OK Pawn Brokers loan receipt for a diamond ring that belonged to her former employers.

Cindric, who has been charged with third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, was arraigned on March 4 at First District Court in Hempstead.
