Cops: Shots fired near Levittown border

Eighth Precinct officers said they responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of 2715 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown near the border with East Meadow last Friday.
   
According to detectives, on Feb. 27 at 12:54 a.m., officers found spent .40 caliber and .45 caliber shell casings on the ground, and were advised that the five subjects involved had fled the scene in a white Cadillac Escalade and a white BMW westbound on Hempstead Turnpike, last seen entering the Wantagh Parkway southbound.
   
The white BMW was observed traveling at a high rate of speed, and stopped by an 8th Precinct office, police said. An investigation led to the arrest of driver, Korrin Walton, 27, of Freeport, on charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana as well as vehicle and traffic violations, police said.

   
Bureau of Special Operations officers, while on routine patrol in Roosevelt, observed the white Cadillac Escalade fitting the description of the second fleeing vehicle, police said. According to detectives, the officers conducted a vehicle stop and passenger Mikis Brim, 28 of Roosevelt, exited the car then made hand movements toward his waist and weapon, which the officer secured after a struggle.
   
According to investigators, the defendant was eventually arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 7th Degree and Resisting arrest. Police said identified three others who arrested in connection with the incident: Ronald Scott, 31, Antonio Baker, 26, and Kimberly Veasey,  23, all of Roosevelt.
   
Police said that the two recovered pistols were a .40 caliber Taurus and a .45 caliber Vickers.
   
The defendants were arraigned in First District Court on Feb. 28.
