The Board of Education adopted the superintendent-approved projected budget for the East Meadow Union Free School District 2012-13 school year.

“The 2012-13 budget preserves all our fine instructional and extra curricular programs, maintains current staffing levels and yet, still recognizes the economics of our current times,” said Joseph Parisi, Board of Education president, at a board meeting on March 29.

“Our Board of Education administration worked very hard to put together a plan which we believe is fair to our students, staff and community at large,” added Superintendent of Schools Louis DeAngelo.

The projected budget is $184.9 million, up from $181.3 million.

There will be a formal budget presentation on May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Leon J. Campo Salisbury Center, followed by the budget vote on May 15.

For residents who want to better understand the adopted budget, the PTA will hold numerous meetings throughout the district. The first meeting was held at Woodland Middle School on April 2.
