Jarro named Contractor of the Year
 

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry named Jarro Building Industries in East Meadow the 2010 Regional Contractor of the Year in the Residential Exterior Specialty category of its annual awards competition, and is now eligible for national recognition in the same category.

Skinner recognized nationally
      
Walter Skinner, owner of the Allstate agency located at 2066 Front Street in East Meadow, has been recognized by Allstate Insurance Company for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and profitability. Skinner is now among the top Allstate agencies in the nation in auto, property, commercial insurance and financial service sales.
       
Due to this success, Skinner earned an invitation to attend Leaders Forum in Scottsdale,  Ariz., where he met with top Allstate officers. Skinner is one of only 10 percent of Allstate insurance agents and Personal Financial Representatives nationally to reach this level of achievement.

In addition to the swearing in of new officers and board members at the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce's annual Installation Dinner on Jan. 29, two popular awards were handed out by Immediate Past President Dr. Janine Kelly.
      
Alan Hodish, a past president, was awarded the Dave Rothbaum Silver Fox Award. The award is given to individuals who show outstanding service to the Chamber.
      
The Marvin Bernstein Humanitarian Award, given to an individual or organization who has shown outstanding service to the East Meadow community and its neighbors over the years, was presented to 2010 president Rose Fuger.
      
The East Meadow Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting on Feb. 3 at the Texas Roadhouse. Membership and upcoming events were among the topics discussed, including the second annual Game Show Night to be held in March.
 
The Chamber meets on the first Wednesday of each month.
