2011 was filled with shining and tragic moments. The East Meadow Fire Department battled blizzards, blazes and tropical storms; students jumped for the Guinness book, hosted a braille challenge and celebrated a winning football season; an all-inclusive park opened in Eisenhower; and a former resident was a killed Al Qaeda blogger.
