The East Meadow Jewish Center celebrated Yom Yerushalayim, or Jerusalem Day, at its synagogue on Prospect Avenue on May 28. The holiday commemorates the reunification of the Old City of Jerusalem in 1967, when Israeli soldiers victoriously recaptured the city from Jordanian control in the Arab-Israeli Six Day War.

Congregants observed the day with a barbecue, complete with children’s games and crafts, making for a festive community celebration.
