EMJC does the World Wide Wrap

Posted

The East Meadow Jewish Center participated in the World Wide Wrap on Feb. 1, as part of a nationwide event where congregations wrap themselves in tefillin — leather straps placed around the arm and head during prayer, attached to three boxes that contain scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Torah.

The program serves to educate on the history and rituals involved with teffilin, while encouraging positive community values.

The East Meadow synagogue’s Men’s Club organizes the local event, and this year, more than 75 congregants plus students from the Hebrew school participated.
