A few days after East Meadow and the rest of Nassau dealt with record-breaking heat, torrential downpours pounded the area last Saturday afternoon, bringing nearly four inches of rain. Some areas were flooded, creating havoc on the roads.
Heavy rains returned on Tuesday, and were forecast through Wednesday night. Temperatures were not expected to exceed 83 on Wednesday. However, the mercury is predicted to rise back around 90 degrees on Thursday, Friday and through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
