Hempstead town honors recycling poster contest participants

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, left, presents a town certificate of recognition to first-grade student Marissa Massaro, second from left, and fourth-grade student Alyssa Yablansky at Barnum Woods Elementary School in East Meadow for their participation in the 21st Annual Recycling Poster Contest sponsored by Covanta Energy. Supervisor Murray was proud to join in honoring grammar school students from several participating school districts for their outstanding creativity in illustrating the importance of recycling. Facility Manager Larry Evans was also on hand for the ceremony held at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place.
