Hempstead Turnpike reopened after building fire

A building fire at an auto dealership on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow caused police to close all eastbound lanes at Newbridge Road.

According to police, the fire was reported at about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Auto World Kia dealership on 2520 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow. After about three hours, the lanes were reopened on Hempstead Turnpike at Newbridge Road. The North Bellmore Fire Department led the response, with mutual aid from East Meadow, Merrick and Uniondale.
