John Arigo named East Meadow Chamber's Man of the Year

The East Meadow Chamber of Commerce honored John Arigo as its Man of the Year for 2011. 

Arigo has been a resident of East Meadow for more than 50 years. He graduated from Hofstra University with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1977. Arigo married his wife, Carol, that same year. They have five children: Lauren, Peter, Stefanie, Melanie and Cheryl. 

Arigo became a certified public accountant in 1979. He is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. In 1984, Arigo was made partner in the accounting firm of Frederick, Goglio and Bertolli. In 1989, Arigo started his own CPA practice in East Meadow. In addition to practicing accounting, Arigo and his wife own Pietro’s Pizzeria and Italian Resaturant at 476 East Meadow Avenue.

Over the years, Arigo has given his time and efforts to various East Meadow organizations in addition to the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce. 

Arigo was a member of the St. Raphael’s Finance Committee and he has coached and managed many teams for the East Meadow Little League. He is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of East Meadow and was awarded the East Meadow Kiwanis Anton J. Kaiser Foundation Fellow Award in 2008. In 2009, Arigo was the Guest of Honor at the East Meadow United Methodist Church’s 150th Anniversary Celebration. Each summer, Arigo donates hundreds of pizzas at the East Meadow Community Pride Day. In 2004, Arigo was selected by the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce as their honoree to receive the Small Businessperson of the Year Award at the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce 20th annual breakfast.

In 2005, Arigo served as the East Meadow Chamber’s president. In 2007, he received the Marvin Bernstein Humanitarian Award. He has worked on the Culinary Delights Fundraiser for seven years, four of them as co-chairman, raising money for the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce and various local charities. He has also worked in the Installation/Journal Committee for many years.
