The East Meadow Kiwanis Club met up with local youth service organizations at W. T. Clarke High School to sort collected food into baskets for families that would not have had the funds to put together an Easter or Passover dinner.

On March 30, Kiwanians headed to the grocery store to pick up last minute grocery items before assembling baskets with the help of Key Club and Builders Club students. The clubs also met the following morning to deliver the food baskets to 112 needy families who were identified by local priests, rabbis and school social workers.

East Meadow Kiwanis, East Meadow and W. T. Clarke High School Key Clubs, W.T. Clarke and Woodland Middle School Builders Clubs, North Shore Fitness and local residents provided monetary and food donations to make this event possible.

Walter Wientge Jr. in memory of Howard Clemmings, Capital One Bank and First National Bank of Long Island also made contributions.

Additional clubs who took part in the food basket organization and deliveries included the Nassau Community College Circle K, Sacred Heart High School Key Club, Bowling Green Elementary School K-Kids and McVey Elementary School K-Kids, who were sponsored by Nassau University Medical Center.
