East Meadow Kiwanians hosted their third annual “Name That Tune FUNdraiser” at the East Meadow Fire Department Headquarters on Jan. 20.

About 80 community members were in attendance and competed in teams of ten. During the two-hour event, participants were asked to come up with the song title and artist’s name after hearing a few seconds of each song. This year’s themes included songs from the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s, girls groups from the 1960s to 1990s, television theme songs and classic Christmas songs.

“We had a lot of laughs,” said Alan Hodish, a former member on the Board of Directors. “We had a good time and we raised over $2,000 for Kiwanis.” Hodish added that the funds collected go to the holiday food baskets. The next holiday food basket delivery will take place on March 31 before Passover and Easter.

Hodish was co-chair of the event with Harry Demiris who also acted as the evening’s disc jockey. East Meadow Kiwanis Treasurer Jim Smith was the judge at the event.
