Kiwanis to collect food for Uniondale pantry

The East Meadow Kiwanis Club is hosting a special holiday food drive for a neighboring community's church.

Volunteers from the organization said they wanted to help replenish the food pantry at Saint Martha's Catholic Parish for the holiday season. The church is located at 564 Greegrove Ave. in Uniondale.

To help the church, Kiwanians will be collectiong nonperisable food from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12. The collection will be held at Shop Rite, at 1121 Jerusalem Ave. in Uniondale (next to WalMart).

Community service is the primary mission of the Kiwanis Club. According to the group’s websites, members strive to fulfill the Kiwanis International vision of changing the world, one child and one community at a time.
