The East Meadow Jewish Center Sisterhood held a Purim party to benefit the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation on March 4. Nearly 60 families attended the event and helped raise more than $1,000 for the foundation.

Geared toward children up to five years old, tots participated in arts and crafts, decorating princess and prince crowns, and had their faces painted. Special guest performers Darlene Graham, the Blue Potatoes and Elmo also entertained the kids between games and giveaways.

Some families came with toys and hair accessories that will be donated to children in the hospital and everyone wrote notes and drew pictures to be included in a scrapbook sent to a the Galena family whose daughter, Ayelet, lost her battle with bone marrow cancer in January.

In the true tradition of Purim, all attendees enjoyed Hamentashen, a pastry shaped like a triangle.
