Verdi’s revolutionary opera is staged by Long Island Opera, in three acts, Saturday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. The cast includes baritone Ted Labow, in the title role of Rigoletto, Rockville Centre’s Jennifer Caruana, Mezzo-soprano, as the sultry Maddalena, Italian tenor Paolo Buffagni as the Duke of Mantua, and soprano Mary Thorne as Rigoletto’s daughter Gilda.

This operatic masterpiece, based on Victor Hugo’s “Le Roi s’Amuse,” tells the story of an ego-centric politician, an innocent young girl, and a father’s fateful curse. Proving that political scandals are timeless, and featuring some of opera’s most beautiful and passionate music, Rigoletto takes us on a compelling emotional journey – involving a curse, love and a daughter’s search for her one true love.

This production is sponsored by Marty and Sue Bevilacqua and Oceanville Masonry Showcase. Tickets are $35 and $20, with a limited number of preferred seating $75 VIP tickets that include a pre-show wine reception; available at (516) 678-5000 ext. 7715 or www.madisontheatreny.org.
