East Meadow Scouts with Troop 157 recently hiked along the Palisades Interstate Park on the Hudson. This was a required hike in preparation for a high adventure hike in August to climb Mount Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Mount Washington is the highest peak in Northeastern United States at 6,288 ft. For a long time it held the record for the highest wind gust directly measured at the Earth’s surface, 231 mph dating back to 1934.
East Meadow Troop 157 meets at Calvery Lutheran Church in East Meadow Friday nights at 7:15 p.m. and go on campouts once a month along with performing community service.
