East Meadow continued its offensive roll on Monday, winning its fourth consecutive Conference II-AA boys’ soccer game, a 5-0 decision at Long Beach. The Jets (4-3-1) have scored 15 goals during the hot streak and are getting contributions from a number of players. Senior forward Alex Reminick, who scored twice against the Marines, has a team-high 11 goals in eight games.

“We’re definitely confident now,” Jets coach Kevin Regan said. “We did struggle to put balls in the net [earlier in the season] but we stressed that we needed to be patient because we knew we were capable. We were playing good defense, we just weren’t catching any breaks.”

Junior forward Anthony Posillico scored the game-winning goal in East Meadow’s 2-1 win over Uniondale on Oct. 1, finishing off a feed from sophomore midfielder William Rosales. “[Anthony] doesn’t have the goals [that Alex does] but he’s just as dangerous,” Regan said.

The addition of junior goalkeeper Hector Guerrero created a ripple effect through the lineup that has had a major impact—and a positive one—on the entire team. Junior Dom Fragiorgi, last year’s starting goalie, was moved to outside back where he and senior Baffour Obiem have flourished in locking down opposing attackers. Junior David Shmuel also boasts a background in goal, but has meshed with the rest of a strong defense that’s allowed just 10 goals.

Guerrero, meanwhile, has good size and excellent athleticism and his experience at the position has boosted the entire defense. “Hector’s addition has helped us in so many ways,” Regan said. “He’s a seasoned goalkeeper and knows his way around.”
