East Meadow native and New England Patriots offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger  was recognized as a Patriots Community All Star for his dedication to volunteer work this year. Rich donated his time and energy at multiple community events throughout the season, including a visit to Children’s Hospital Boston, and the Patriots annual Thanksgiving Turkey Basket giveaway in partnership Goodwill.

Ohrnberger made his NFL debut with the Patriots as a reserve right guard during a 31-14 home victory over the Jets in November. He also went on to play in a reserve role at Miami and at Buffalo in December.

At East Meadow High School, Ohrnberger was a three-year varsity player, a two-year captain, and earned multiple honors, including All-Long Island and All-County. As a senior, he won the Thorp Award as the most outstanding player in Nassau County.

Ohrnberger went on to play at Penn State, where he started for three years and finished his senior year with an appearance in the Rose Bowl. He was drafted by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
