Police: East Meadow motorist hits, kills pedestrian

According to Suffolk County police, 97-year-old Roy Coar, of Massapequa Park, was walking across Broadway near Locust Drive when a car struck him at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Jason Castellano, 30, of East Meadow, was driving his 2004 Honda Accord traveling southbound on Broadway when he allegedly hit the pedestrian, police said.

Coar was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver was not injured.

Police said the investigation is continuing and the driver’s vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
