In a night of police and community partnership, Veterans Memorial Park played host to National Night Out on Aug. 4, an annual event promoting education of law enforcement and safety hosted by Nassau County Legislator Norma Gonsalves and the Nassau County Police Department.
Dozens of children and their parents gathered in the park, at the corner of East Meadow and Prospect avenues, for various games, activities, informational sessions and demonstrations.
Among the entertainment was face painting, tattoos and an appearance by Nassau County’s arson robot, which excited many of the children. Nassau County Police Explorers also spent the evening answering questions and mingling with attendees.
