Randi Shubin Dresner, a lifelong East Meadow resident, was part of a group honored last Saturday as 'Women of Distinction.' The award was presented by Assemblymen Tom McKevitt and David McDonough during a special morning ceremony at the Merrick Library.

Dresner, CFRE, has served as President and CEO of Island Harvest since 2001. By aligning the organization’s operation with proven business models, while retaining the philosophy and values of a non-profit organization, she has also overseen an increase of revenues by more than 130 percent, the creation of education, outreach, and advocacy programs and a sizable rise in the number of registered volunteers from 650 to 2,500. Randi has led the increase in Island Harvest’s collection and delivery of donated food from an annual two million pounds to nearly seven million in just a few short years.

Under Dresner's direction, Island Harvest has become the largest hunger-relief organization on Long Island, with a solid brand and known as a highly cost efficient non-profit organization, where 97 cents of ever dollar contributed is directed toward program expenses. Under her leadership, Island Harvest has been rated a 4-Star Charity by Charity Navigator for four years running, an honor held by only 7 percent of those they monitor.

Dresner is an active member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals, L.I. Chapter and the Women Economic Developers of Long Island. She is also a member of the Winthrop-University Hospital Community Advisory Board and the Academy for Regional Stewardship of the Energeia Partnership. She has participated in EMILY’S List Political Opportunity Program and has been recognized and honored by many community and regional organizations including the Long Island Federation of Labor AFL-CIO and the Hispanic Brotherhood of RVC.

Dresner dedicated many years to the March of Dimes, LI Chapter; National Multiple Sclerosis Society, NYC & Nassau County Chapters & ABILITIES.

Randi is a lifelong resident of East Meadow and is the mother of two children, Rebecca and Stephen; Belle, their dog and a filled-to-capacity fish tank.
